Reinhardt was an important influence on the likes of contemporary guitarists such as Les Paul, Charlie Christian, B.B. King, Jerry Garcia, and Chet Atkins.

With no formal training, the Roma guitarist created a new style of music in the 1930s and '40s that came to be dubbed "gypsy jazz." His playing was at times joyous, fierce and lyrical, and his intensity was such that he's one of the few European musicians to exert a serious influence on the American art form of jazz.

The Spotlight Series is an initiative supported by the Slaughter Family Arts Awards to inspire a bond within the Fort Worth artistic community. The goal is to support a project or a production of a Fort Worth native that will positively impact and shift the attention to the blossoming artistic talent in Fort Worth. The voices of such projects are sure to evolve over time. Today, we are passing the mic to Joe Westermann.
For the first year of the Spotlight Series, Executive Producer Joe Westermann will help young artists in the Fort Worth area create a production of:

A Chorus Line: High School Edition!
A Chorus Line - High School Edition is a full-length version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, adapted for performance by high school students with family audiences. Every aspect of the show has been developed specifically for high school performers: dialogue and content are age-appropriate, dance sequences are of a length befitting high school dancers, and allowances are made to feature actors of any race or ethnicity. The materials have been prepared - with the authors' approval - to help your school or organization mount the best possible production and to give your students an exciting and rewarding experience.

A Chorus Line is a stunning concept musical capturing the spirit and tension of a Broadway chorus audition. Exploring the inner lives and poignant ambitions of professional Broadway performers, the show features one powerhouse number after another. Memorable musical numbers include "What I Did for Love," "One," "I Can Do That," "At the Ballet," "The Music and the Mirror," and "I Hope I Get It." A brilliantly complex fusion of song, dance, and compellingly authentic drama, the show was instantly recognized as a classic.
