13TH ANNUAL JAMES CLAY TRIBUTE!
Sunday, September 5, 2021
7:00 pm, $15
An American hard bop jazz tenor saxophonist & flutist, and a native of Dallas, James Clay (1935-1995) worked and recorded with numerous acknowledged jazz greats including Wynton Kelly, Don Cherry, Billy Higgins, Sonny Clark, Victor Feldman, Cedar Walton, Charlie Haden, David "Fathead" Newman, Wes Montgomery, Ray Charles, Hank Crawford, Dewey Redman & Ornette Coleman.
The program will feature performances by veteran Dallas/Fort Worth jazz musicians - vocalists, drummers, pianists, bassists and guitarists - who knew and worked with James Clay.
With the spirit of real jazz that was always the deep, soulful essence of Clay's music. Johnny Case states: "He was the greatest jazz musician I've worked with, and I've played with a few whose names are better-known."
It will be a great opportunity to celebrate his life and talent if you knew him and a great opportunity to learn about him if you are just discovering how great he was.

BREAD CHURCH with Rev. Charlie Johnson
Sundays, Main Room
10:30 am-12:00 pm
All are always welcome at Bread Fellowship—we believe strongly in our call by God to be inclusive of all God’s children. Our hope and prayer is that visiting at Bread is like coming home where you are loved and accepted.
Worship begin as we gather in a circle and share the peace of Christ. There are scriptures, prayers, and other readings. One of our two pastors leads worship by sharing a meditation on the scripture for the day. There is always time for discussion and questions so that our worship can make a difference in the way we live in the week to come.
We conclude our celebration each week by sharing the Lord’s Supper. The dress is casual, come as you are. There is no membership requirement. There is no giving requirement.
There are only two rules: 1) Everyone is welcome. 2) We will never own property - we believe it detracts from our call to be salt and light in the world.
